My City Lives: Update
As promised, we wanted to give you a quick update on our My City Lives project. For those of you new to this community, My City Lives is a video based online application that will mash user generated videos with a point on a map to produce an unprecedented way of finding where to go. The idea was developed via the input of many individuals from this community while we were answering what we could do to the ‘kill the recession’. My City Lives is certainly a solution to problems brought on by the recession but it is also, more importantly, an emerging platform for advocacy, urban literature and citizen reporting. Since the idea was first crafted, we have been working on the technical development of the product while building connections and gathering inputs from stakeholders across the city.
We recently completed our first round of testing which validated a successful creation of the application, in the most rudimentary form. We are now working on the many fixes and adjustments that we found need to be made, while working with some new individuals to build out a proper user experience and concentration on design.
When we began this project, we believed that we would be able to launch in September but in the interest of doing it right, we are pushing back and now hope to leave our Private Beta in October. As always, we’ll keep you informed on our status and encourage you to reach out to us if you have any thoughts, ideas or good words. We love good words.

Congratulations Adil and Adam! I’m sure it hasn’t been an easy process for either of you. I think it’s important to do things right and if that means pushing it back later then so be it. It’s the little details that are so important and if you tend to them then My City Lives will be much better for it. The key is to under promise and over deliver. Looking forward to the launch in October.
